Short answer: choose Hostinger if price matters most, especially over several years. Choose SiteGround if you want daily backups on every plan, phone support and polished WordPress tools, and you are happy to pay much more at renewal for them. Both are good hosts; the real difference is what you pay after the first year.

How I compared them: this website has run on Hostinger for about seven years, so my Hostinger notes come from daily use, including a speed test on this site in July 2026. My SiteGround notes come from my SiteGround review, based on sites I have had hosted there. Prices were checked on both official websites on 22 October 2026; Hostinger is running Black Friday prices that end on 14 December 2026. I have not run a controlled speed test of both hosts on the same site, so I do not declare a speed winner.

Hostinger: public Black Friday prices on a 48-month term. SiteGround: introductory prices need 12 months prepaid. Checked 22 October 2026; taxes excluded.

The headline prices look close, but the terms are not. Hostinger’s low price lasts for the whole 48-month term you pay for up front. SiteGround’s introductory price covers only the first 12 months, then renews at more than four times as much.

Here is what one small website costs over four years on the entry plans, before taxes: Hostinger Premium is $119.52 in total (one 48-month payment). SiteGround StartUp is $47.88 for the first year, then three years at $17.99 a month ($647.64), or $695.52 in total. For several sites with daily backups, Hostinger Unlimited costs $167.52 over the same four years, while SiteGround GrowBig costs $80.28 for year one plus $1,079.64 for years two to four: $1,159.92.

Hostinger does lock you into a longer prepayment to get that price, and its renewals rise too, from $2.49 to $10.99 a month on Premium. Check my Hostinger coupon guide for the current checkout prices, and my Black Friday hosting deals for this season’s offers from both hosts.

Performance

This website runs on Hostinger: the Hostinger Tools panel in its own WordPress admin.

Both hosts are fast enough for blogs, business sites and small stores, and your theme, plugins and images will matter as much as the host.

Hostinger runs LiteSpeed web servers, which work well with the free LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress. In my own test on this site in July 2026, cached pages loaded in 0.6 seconds with a 325 ms time to first byte.

SiteGround runs on Google Cloud with its own server-level caching, a free CDN and its Speed Optimizer plugin for WordPress, which handles caching, image compression and file optimisation. In my experience, sites hosted on SiteGround feel noticeably faster than on most budget hosts. I have not tested both hosts with the same site, so treat neither as the outright speed winner.

Features, Backups and Security

  • Backups: SiteGround includes automatic daily backups on every plan, with on-demand backups from GrowBig. Hostinger’s Premium plan has weekly backups; daily backups start on Unlimited.
  • Websites: Hostinger allows 3 sites on its entry plan; SiteGround StartUp allows 1.
  • Domain and email: Hostinger includes a free domain for the first year and free mailboxes for the first year; SiteGround includes email but not a domain.
  • WordPress tools: both offer one-click installs, managed updates and free migrations. SiteGround adds staging from GrowBig and WP-CLI and SSH on every plan.
  • Security: both include free SSL and malware protection; SiteGround also lists a web application firewall and an AI anti-bot system.

Ease of Use

Both dashboards are built for non-technical users. Hostinger’s hPanel brings hosting, domains, email and backups together, and after years of using it on this site I find it simple to manage. SiteGround’s Site Tools gives each website its own dashboard, which is tidy if you run several sites. Neither uses cPanel.

Support

This is where SiteGround clearly leads. It offers 24/7 support by live chat, tickets and phone from in-house staff, and in my experience it has been responsive and helpful. Hostinger offers 24/7 live chat and email but no phone support. If you want to be able to call someone, choose SiteGround.

Data Centres

SiteGround hosts sites on Google Cloud data centres in the USA, Europe, Singapore and Sydney, and you choose one when you create a site. It has no data centre in India, so Singapore is its closest option for Indian visitors. Hostinger operates data centres across four continents, including India, so it is the closer choice for an Indian audience.

Which Should You Choose?

  • One budget site, lowest cost over several years: Hostinger Premium.
  • Several sites with daily backups on a budget: Hostinger Unlimited.
  • You want phone support and daily backups on the cheapest plan: SiteGround StartUp.
  • A business site where support and staging matter more than price: SiteGround GrowBig.
  • An audience in India: Hostinger, which has an India data centre.

Final Verdict

For most people watching their budget, Hostinger is the better buy: over four years it costs a fraction of SiteGround for a comparable small site, and it is the host this website runs on. SiteGround is worth its higher price if you value daily backups on every plan, phone support and polished WordPress tools, and you budget for the renewal from the start. Whichever you choose, compare the full multi-year cost, not just the first month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hostinger cheaper than SiteGround?

Yes, by a wide margin over several years. Hostinger Premium is $2.49 a month on a 48-month Black Friday deal ($119.52 for four years), while SiteGround StartUp is $3.99 a month for the first year and then renews at $17.99 a month. Over four years that is about $119.52 versus $695.52.

Is SiteGround faster than Hostinger?

Not necessarily. SiteGround uses Google Cloud with its own caching, while Hostinger uses LiteSpeed with built-in caching. Both are fast for typical small sites. I have not tested both on the same site.

Which has better support, Hostinger or SiteGround?

SiteGround. It offers 24/7 chat, tickets and phone support. Hostinger offers 24/7 live chat and email but no phone line.

Does SiteGround include a free domain?

No. Hostinger includes a free domain for the first year on Premium and higher plans.

Which is better for WordPress?

Both work well. SiteGround adds daily backups on every plan and staging from GrowBig; Hostinger costs much less and uses LiteSpeed, which pairs well with the LiteSpeed Cache plugin.

Which is better for an Indian audience?

Hostinger, because it has an India data centre. SiteGround’s closest data centre for India is in Singapore.
